INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION
Before the start of the school year, Qatar Foundation organizes an orientation for all its international students, attending universities at Education City and the Academic Bridge Program. The orientation is conducted several days before the branch campus orientations.
Held in early August, the program takes approximately four days and is designed to help international students adapt to their new surroundings. It is at this time that the students are also introduced to Qatari culture and customs. The orientation brings students together in an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support, which they are encouraged to maintain throughout their undergraduate programs.
International students, that have been assigned rooms at Residence Halls, may move into their rooms before and/or during orientation. During this time, those students who are not citizens of a GCC country and whose parents' reside outside of Qatar, are required to complete most of their residence visa application procedures. Many students take away some of their best memories from the orientation programs. Highlights of the 2007 orientation program include a cooking competition, ice breaker activities, a Wellness Jeopardy Game, and trips to the Souq (bazaar) and points of interest in Doha. Please check out the 2007 orientation program.
If you are an international student matriculating at one of the branch campuses this fall, please plan to arrive in Qatar no later than August 8, 2009 so that you will be ready to participate in the Education City International Student Orientation scheduled for August 9-13, 2010. Since you will be completing immigration procedures during this time, international student orientation is mandatory. If you are living on campus, you may begin to move into the residence halls as early as August 4 if you choose to.
